Here is a great video of a half sleeve tattoo that was found at youtube.  It is a nice design and a great tattoo.  They state it was done in one sitting of 8 hours and 5 minutes total time.  It it not typically recommended to do a large tattoo this size in one sitting.  However it can be done especially if you are flying into have the tattoo artist do the work.  It is better to do it over a few weeks ideally or at least two or three days in multiple sessions.  Never the less this tattoo came out very well.  it is a very traditional Japanese koi sleeve tattoo design which is very popular for half sleeve.
